What standards apply to the manufacturing of DHW tanks?
APPLICABLE REGULATIONS: Directive 2014/68/EU: European Pressure Equipment Directive. STANDARD UNE 100030:2005 IN: Guide for the prevention and control of the proliferation and dissemination of Legionella in facilities. STANDARD UNE 112076: 2004 IN: Prevention of corrosion in water circuits. STANDARD DIN 4753-T3 In Spain: Royal Decree 865/2003, which stablishes the hygienic-sanitary criteria for the prevention and control of Legionellosis. What is the most suitable electrical heating system in DHW calorifiers?
The best electric heating system for a DHW calorifier is the one that allows the heating elements to be located without being in direct contact with the domestic hot water circuit. For this reason, we always recommend our electric hot water heaters type DOUBLE-WALL “D” and “DEC” in what comes to our domestic range GEISER INOX, and our ceramic electrical heating elements for our industrial ranges MASTER INOX and MASTER VITRO.
What is the heating principle in a double-walled storage tank?
The contained water in the surrounding or primary tank is heated by means of an external energy source (boiler, heat pump, solar heater system, etc.), which circulates through this outer cylinder and transmits its thermal energy to the domestic water storaged in the inner cylinder.
Should a lapesa STAINLESS STEEL tank incorporate cathodic protection?
Cathodic protection is not necessary under normal working conditions and with normal drinking water (European Directive 98/83/CE). Only in exceptional conditions, such as working with particularly aggressive water, a permanent cathodic protection system "Lapesa correx-up” should be equipped.
What is the minimum water conductivity value (DHW), so that the cathodic protection works correctly?
The minimum conductivity value of the DHW, for the correct operation of the cathodic protection, must be >= 200 mS/cm.
What is the advantage of the excellent energy classification (ErP) of the lapesa storage tanks?
The design of our storage tanks and their extra-thick rigid mould-injected PU thermal insulation, gives them an extraordinary energy storage capacity in order to keep the DHW temperature for long periods of time without the need for any additional energy inputs, which leads, in addition, to the definitive contribution to environmental care, and to continuous savings for the user throughout the operational life of the cylinder.
What do we consider as anti-Legionella design in domestic hot water storage tanks?
Bacterial proliferation such as “Legionella” inside the domestic hot water storage cylinders, should be avoided from the design of the storage tank itself, with heating systems that avoid “cold areas” (<40 ºC), or with storage temperatures clearly lower than that of the tank. As an example of “anti-Legionella” design, we propose our "double wall" models, with total temperature homogeneity inside the cylinder and made of stainless steel as the hygienic material for excellence. All our models with heating coils also take into account this phenomenon, and are designed with geometries adapted to heating from the bottom of the storage tank, thus avoiding cold areas or areas with the possibility of bacteria proliferation.
What advantages does the stratification system offer in our inertia buffer tanks?
Buffer tanks in hot water installations are considered lung tanks in the primary heating circuit, or as a primary energy source to connect different heating systems for DHW production or heating water. In this second case, it is essential to have the primary water storaged at different temperatures for the correct operation of the systems connected to the tank. In the case of our inertia buffer tanks with stratification system, they storage water in the primary circuit in different temperature zones.
What is the use of a multifunctional tank?
A multifunctional tank allows several primary heating systems to be installed at the same time, for the production and storage of domestic hot water, and also for the use in heating circuits. Basically, it consists of a DHW storage tank with or without an internal coil (back-up boiler), with a “double wall” primary circuit, which acts as a heating circuit and a buffer tank to connect, for example, a heat pump, and with coil inside the primary circuit for connection to solar water heating systems (such as solar collectors).
How often is it necessary to inspect (and replace) sacrificial anodes in an enamelled steel tank?
Our recommendation is to inspect the condition of the anodes at least once a year and change them if necessary. Obviously neither all geographical areas nor their waters are the same. The consumption of the anodes will depend on the aggressiveness of the water, its characteristics and chemical composition.
